Miami Trails and the Neighborhood Network at Miami Trails participate regularly in philanthropic events. We encourage everyone to give back to their community in some way. Below are several volunteer organizations and opportunities for you and your family to get involved in.
MEALS-ON-WHEELS DRIVERS NEEDED
Our homebound neighbors are in need of volunteers to deliver Meals-on-Wheels. As a Miami Trails resident and Meals-on-Wheels volunteer of over five years, I’m hoping I can encourage a few of you to help with this immediate, and ongoing, need.
Volunteers use their own cars to deliver meals one day each week, every other week (share a route with a friend), or just as a substitute driver when regular drivers cancel. After picking up your meals at the Sycamore Senior Center, delivery can usually be completed within an hour.
Drivers come in all ages—retirees, stay-at-home moms (with or without their kids), workers with a liberal lunch hour, or groups, with members rotating on their scheduled day. Even college students volunteer over their breaks.
Right now the Montgomery, Symmes and Loveland routes are too big and we are trying to split them into more managable sizes. But we need more drivers to do that. For questions or to volunteer, contact Cynthia Holloway at the Sycamore Senior Center (984-1234) or email her at . If you’d like to hear more from a volunteer driver, please give me a call.

JOIN OUR LOCAL KINDERVELT AND HELP CHILDREN
Do You Want to Have Fun While Volunteering To Help Children? Then Kindervelt may be just the organization you are looking to join!
Kindervelt is the largest auxiliary of Cincinnati Children's Hospital. It was founded in 1971 and adopted the name Kindervelt to honor the German history of Greater Cincinnati. Kindervelt is composed of neighborhood-based groups with a city board of directors and its mission is easily summed up in our motto “to have fun while raising funds.” And that it exactly what we do.
Our local group is known as Kindervelt #70 Loveland and Company. We meet the second Thursday of the month in members homes. There is a social time preceding a business meeting, which last approximately 1—1 1/2 hours. Over the years, our local group has sponsored, the famous MTM Charitable Golf Tournament, Wine Tastings, American Girl Fashion Shows, Golf Murder Mystery Dinners, Garage Sales, Bake Sales and our latest undertaking - a Kentucky Derby Party, just to name a few. There is no minimum commitment of time to belong to Kindervelt. But once you come and see what a fun time these women having doing a wonderful job raising funds for our Cincinnati Children's Hospital you will want to be part of the group.
If you would like to attend any of our meetings, please contact either Sandy Lankin 677-5758 or Liz Knipper 677-1214.
NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK AT MIAMI TRAILS OUTREACH ACTIVITIES
One of NNMT's primary goals is to give back to the community. Our members are a blessed group of individuals who donate their time, talents and treasures to help those in need within the community at large. This serves to better the world in which we live one project at a time. Some of our outreach initiatives are listed below.
If you would like to get involved please email our OUTREACH COMMITTEE. |
